The GrainSense® Handheld Analyzer is a portable, battery-powered instrument that measures the quality of cereal grains and other crops in seconds, providing readings on protein, moisture, carbohydrates, and oil contents*. It provides the data needed to confidently make critical decisions about harvest times and order, storage method and harvest segregation, selling time and pricing, and more.
GrainSense uses Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, which is a technology that has been successfully used in laboratory instruments for years, but this is the first tool to bring this technology to the field in a handheld format. The operator simply needs to add a few kernels of grain to the sampling tray and accurate results are immediately displayed. The Analyzer then interacts with the GrainSense Mobile App, which connects with GrainSense Cloud Services to upload calibrations and send measurement results, with their GPS location, to the cloud-based database. These results are then stored and accessible through the GrainSense Dashboard.
Use of the GrainSense Handheld Analyzer requires an active GrainSense User Account License, which provides unlimited measurement storage, grain calibrations, and regular automatic updates to the Analyzer. The fee for the license is $450, which is billed annually, but Shore Measuring Systems waives the license fee for the first year of use.
